Camp County is located in the heart of Northeast Texas. Created out of the northern part of Upshur County in 1874 from land that was furnished to John LaFayette Camp on behalf of his Civil War duties, Camp County is the third smallest county in Texas. This is not surprising, since Camp County only covers 102 square miles of land mass! Camp County is a viable agricultural community. It is one of the major peach-producing counties in the state with poultry, livestock, hay, and timber the cornerstones of the county�s agriculture industry. Actually, Camp County is known as the poultry and peach capital of Northeast Texas. As with all counties in the state, the mission of Texas Cooperative Extension - Camp County is the same - to provide quality, relevant outreach and continuing educational programs and services to county residents in the fields of Family and Consumer Sciences, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and 4-H and Youth Development. |
